 EMBRACING YOUR INNER SHIGURE
« Thread Started on Jan 2, 2007, 3:41pm »

this is where I post my fanfiction! congrats!

Regular Times

Kyo stared blankly at the clock, counting the seconds until school ended. This day winter break started, and he really needed a break from school. Nothing interesting had happened in a while and he was going to snap soon. Finally the bell rang. Bang, and Kyo was gone.
He waited outside the front of the school building, like he did, every monotonous day. The only interesting part of this day approached, with her usual smile. “Hello Kyo-kun!” Tohru said, her entire aura of happiness already putting him in a better mood.
He, instead of greeting her, tapped her lightly on the head with his fist. “Come on. You’re going to be late.” Then he saw something that took his mood back to dismal. Tohru’s friends were fast approaching.
The larger and louder one, Arisa Uotani, was the first to say something, and say it loudly as her description suggests. “Tohru! Were you trying to sneak off without us?”
“Kyo probably forced her. To get alone time you know…” Hanajima, the smaller, scarier one added. “Such rare devotion is found these days.” Kyo blushed and snapped.
“Why do you always make me out to be the pervert! Don’t you two have better things to do than to pester me?!” He yelled.
“Not really, this is our favorite game.” Uo-chan said, putting both hands behind her head.
“Not anymore, Uo-chan…” Hanajima said in her spine-chilling voice. “The waves… they are hostile…”
“Why? Do we have to leave?”
“Indeed. You still don’t remember that we have detention… funny…”
“Fine! Get lost then!” Kyo yelled.
“K-Kyo-kun…” Tohru stuttered, not really being included in the conversation.
Uotani looked at Kyo with her best “try anything and I will take twice it out of your blood” look. Hanajima waved goodbye to Tohru and headed off, with Uotani behind her.
“Kyo-kun, you can’t let them get to you like that! They only do that because it aggravates you…”
“Hah! Easy for you to say!” He growled, slightly taking Tohru aback.
They walked in silence for a bit more, both uncomfortable at what Kyo had last said. Tohru thought she upset him, and Kyo felt bad for snapping at her. Without her after all, he’d be alone in a house with Yuki and Shigure. She was basically his savior from insanity.
Then they both started talking at the same time. “You first.” Tohru said. By this time, both of them were blushing a little.
“Okay. I’m sorry for snapping. Happy now?”
“I shouldn’t have, I mean-” she started, but Kyo waved her off.
“Stop, it was my fault. That’s what wrong with you; you always take it upon yourself to take the blame! Worry about yourself more!” He said, once again bonking her on the head with his fist while she grinned.
They walked on in silence, Kyo lost in his thoughts. Tohru decided to break the silence. “Umm… Why do you walk me to work every day?”
Kyo blushed a bit. “Because I care. Every Sohma cares about you. Didn’t you realize it by now?”
“Then why don’t you all walk me to work?”
“It’s not convenient. Plus if Yuki came, I’d kill someone.”
“Then why doesn’t Haru or Momiji come?”
“Why are you asking all these questions?” Kyo said, a little harsher than he meant to.
“I was just wondering…” Tohru trailed off. Another uncomfortable silence ensued. Kyo sighed. He loved this girl, but he would never have a chance with her, and no chance to tell her.
“Tohru-” he began, but then was cut off by another voice. A person who worked in the same place Tohru did leaned out the door to the workplace.
“Tohru! Hurry up! You’re already a little late!” The lady yelled.
“Coming! Sorry Kyo-kun, I have to go.” She gave him a light kiss on the cheek and ran away while blushing a bit. Kyo blushed too, but was glad she didn’t look back; otherwise she would have seen it. He sighed and turned around.
He walked up a small wooded path to the Sohma property owned by Shigure. He climbed up a small bluff and sat at the top rock. He laid back with his hands behind his head. Today had been so… troublesome. Lost in his thoughts, time seemed relatively meaningless. He slowly drifted off to sleep…

“Kyo-Kun! Kyo-Kun, wake up!” He awoke, being jostled by smooth hands. He slowly opened his eyes to see Tohru kneeling over him, looking worried.
“Hmm? What time is it?” He mumbled, still tired.
“It’s already 7! You’ve been missing for an hour! I was really worried when you didn’t show up to walk me back home!” She said, nearly at tears.
“Oh, sorry…” he felt pretty bad. Yuki would probably piss him off about this when he got home.
“I… really worried. I thought something happened to you.” She said, a tear trailing its way down her cheek. Now he really felt bad.
He reached up and wiped her tear away. “Don’t cry. You know how I can’t stand it when you cry…” She sniffed and wiped her eyes. “Why were you so worried? I can take care of myself.”
“Because I care about you too, Kyo-kun!” A light blush tinged her cheeks. Kyo was slightly taken aback by this new turn of events. He sat up and turned so he was looking at her.
“Do you really mean that?” He asked, not sure of what to say. She nodded, and his uncertainties were banished. H leaned in and lightly kissed her on the lips. She was startled, but slowly eased into the kiss. Soon they were kissing passionately as it started to get dark.
Kyo reluctantly pulled away for air. “I love you.” He said quietly. She nodded.
“I know.”

# 2...

Jaded

Shigure looked out the window at Tohru, Yuki, and Kyo walking to the movies. They actually had things to do. He didn’t. They had relationships. He didn’t. He was extremely bored. His publisher wouldn’t be coming for another two weeks and the others had left, so he had nobody to torment.
He sighed and went into the kitchen to make some tea to stimulate his mind. So many interesting scenes have happened in this kitchen. “Ugh. Writers block…” he said to nobody in particular.
He sipped his tea and closed his eyes, tilting his head back in his char. He began to daydream, the best way he got ideas. For once, he had nothing. Usually he had some perverted thought turn into writing, but this time he had nothing.
“Maybe I need inspiration.” He said picking up one of his favorite magazines. Not going into detail, he flipped through the magazine looking for something he could use. He threw the magazine back into the drawer of the desk and closed it.
“Ugh!” He grunted. All he got from that was that the main character was going to have brown hair. He got up and chugged the rest of his tea. He put the cup in the sink and sighed. He couldn’t think of anything.
All of the sudden he had a great idea! He went up to the rooms that Kyo, Tohru, and Yuki slept in and started rummaging around. He might find Kyo’s love poem diary if he was lucky. No such luck. Nothing interesting. The best thing he found was a bunch of notes between Tohru and one of her friends. Hey, that could be used.
“Tohru- who do you think is going to ask you to the dance?” aha. A dance. The sneaky children had not informed him about a dance. He shrugged and read on.
“I don’t know.”
“Fine then, who do you want to ask you to the dance?”
“I’m not sure.”
“Oh, come on. We’ve all seen how you look at him.” Shigure grinned. Now they were getting somewhere. Then an idea clicked into his head.
“I got it!” He yelled. He put everything back the way it was and ran downstairs to his computer and started writing up a storm.

2 hours later…

“Yo, we’re home. Where’s the welcoming obnoxious comment?” Kyo’s voice drifted in through the hall. Shigure was still writing.
“Hey, what’cha workin’ on?” Kyo was right behind him.
“Yeragh! Don’t sneak up on me like that!” Shigure started. He quickly minimized the story.
“Hmm. I’m watching you pervert.”
“Sorry Kyon-Kyon I don’t go that way. Whatever works for you though? Akito probably doesn’t understand, but I do. Hang in there.” He snickered and was rewarded by a punch in the jaw.
“Dinner’s ready you bastard.” Kyo growled.
“Be there soon.” Said Shigure, rubbing a bruised jaw.
He chuckled as Kyo moved downstairs. He would have bruised more then his jaw if he saw what he was writing. He finished and pressed print.
2 months later…

“Sensei! Sensei!” A familiar voice rang out in the house, a lot more cheerful than usual. Shigure gave a start. He hadn’t been expecting her. He hadn’t even been able to hide!
His publisher, Mitchan, burst into the house. “Stop slamming the d**n doors!” Kyo yelled, his usual cheerful self.
“Sensei! I took your new book to the big guys down in Tokyo! They loved it! They want to make 90,000 copies and have you go on a book tour!” Mitchan exclaimed.
Shigure blinked. “Wow. I had no idea it would do so good!”
“When did you write this Shigure-san?” Tohru asked him. Kyo was staring at him like he almost had figured out what was going on.
“Umm… while you guys were out of the house over the course of a month.”
“What’s it about?” Kyo asked, all the while glaring at Shigure.
Shigure smirked. “It’s about a stupid boy who’s in love with a ditzy girl but hides his feelings all the while fighting with his smarter, more handsome rival.”
Kyo snapped. “I’ll kill you, you d**n bastard! You think you can just write something like that without-” he was cut off by a confused stare from Tohru.
“Am- are we in this story? Am I the ditzy girl?”
Shigure smirked. Things were turning out just the way he planned it. “Well, this calls for celebration! Mitchan, come! We are going for sake!” He pulled his confused publisher out of the room after him leaving Kyo and Tohru in the house alone.
“Wish them luck.” Shigure whispered under his breath as he walked out the door.

The book was titled “Year of the Dog” by Shigure Sohma.
“A touching love story of two lovers who reach across all hardships to finally come together in the end.”
